چکیده

femoral head and subsequent degenerative arthritis of the hip. Pain and ambulatory limitations prompt orthopedic surgeons to consider total hip arthroplasty (THA). In these patients, THA can be challenging secondary to distorted anatomy, prior surgeries, and significant soft-tissue contractures. The case reported here illustrates early prosthetic dislocation after THA in a young patient with sickle cell disease successfully treated with open reduction, conversion to a constrained liner, and 8 weeks in a pantaloon hip spica cast. The authors have obtained the patient’s written informed consent for print and electronic publication of the case report.

Physical and Clinical Evaluation of Hip Spica Cast applied with Three-slab Technique using Fibreglass Material

Introduction: Hip spica casting is an important component of treatment for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and popular treatment method for femur fractures in children. Breakage at the hip region is a relatively common problem of this cast. We have developed a three-slab technique of hip spica application using fibreglass as the cast material. The purpose of this review was to evaluate...

Bilateral One-half Spica Cast After Open Reduction and Pelvic Osteotomy in the Developmental Dislocation of the Hip

BACKGROUND The prevalence of DDH ranges from 1 per1000 to 3.4 per 100 live- births. One- and-one-half hip spica cast is the conventional technique of immobilization after the open reduction with or without osteotomy. OBJECTIVES In this study, we evaluated the preference of bilateral one-half spica cast over the one-and-one-half spica cast. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eight hips in five patients w...

Successful Closed Reduction of a Dislocated Constrained Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Case Report and Literature Review

Many surgeons use acetabular components with constrained polyethylene liners to improve stability after total hip arthroplasty in patients with a history of hip dislocation. Surgical treatment is generally thought to be the only available option for the dislocated constrained liner. The success rate and clinical results of closed reduction for such patients is unclear. This report presents a ca...
